This is HR Information

There are so many providers of HR information from recruitment agencies, benefits consultants, training firms and software firms but the information they provide tends to be discounted or treated as a loss leader to a larger, more obvious revenue stream such as placement fees or commission.
We think this will change, and the catalyst is the rapid development of integrated talent management software. If other information markets are any guide, ITMS will spur the crystallisation of information sets to plug into those solutions. Today, only talent assessment and background screening, and some online recruitment can be considered HR information.
We keep a watching brief over all of the potential HR information sectors because we believe that HR information content has the potential to be one of the, if not the biggest, content market. HR departments account for $630bn of corporate spending and are serviced by very large IT, consulting and recruitment firms. And yet information content spending is barely $5bn.
There are several reasons why this might change. We believe the development of integrated talent management platforms, the disruptive impact of social/online recruitment (witness LinkedIn’s explosive emergence as a recruitment information firm) and diversification from core business of HR consultants and recruitment agencies are the catalyst for growth in HR information.
The core business of HR information isn’t standing still either. Within highly fragmented markets, the SHL/Previsor merger created a clear industry leader in talent assessment, and Sympny Technology Group's acquisitions and Sterling Infosystem’s series of roll-up acquisitions are consolidating the employment screening market.
This presentation sets out the HR information landscape for a newly defined information category.
